In 2008 city planners recommended prioritizing the extension of the track of the U2 to other expansion projects. With the development of the area Stadlau and Aspern an as big as possible part of the motor vehicle traffic across the Danube ought to be shifted to the U2 and thus relieve the existing underground railway tracks (U1). How should the citizens of Vienna be given an understanding of this decision of expanding the Aspernstraße?
By means of an impressive film by KOMMERZ the public relation regarding this building project of the Wiener Linien was supported. In surprisingly realistic scenes the spectator takes a ride across the new 5 km long track and passes each of the six new stations. The new section was opened at the 2nd of October 2010 – therefore a comparison is possible at all times.
